The Digital Minimalist
Misfit Vapor marked a bold step forward for the Misfit brand – our first full-screen smartwatch, built around the idea that digital technology could still feel quiet, tactile, and human.
Vapor introduced a 1.39-inch AMOLED display seamlessly nested within a solid stainless-steel case. The design language is pure Misfit: minimal, geometric, and honest. The goal was to make a smartwatch that felt continuous – a single, uninterrupted form where hardware and software blurred into one object.
Complementary Design
Vapor’s defining gesture is the virtual bezel – a capacitive touch ring around the display that allows users to scroll and navigate without obscuring the screen. It recreates the analog precision of a rotating crown through pure digital interaction, placing an emphasis on intuitive physicality without mechanical clutter.
The body is clean and monolithic: a water-resistant case, subtly domed glass, and integrated lugs that flow smoothly into interchangeable straps. The interface complements the hardware: bold, high-contrast typography, simple iconography, and fluid motion appear out of the ether, making the digital appear feel tangible.
