Misfit Bolt is the most beautiful object you’ll hide behind a lampshade. A solid cast-aluminum body keeps it cool while looking like something that belongs in a spacecraft, not a socket. It’s a Bluetooth smart bulb from before the days of Matter or Thread — a time when “smart home” meant a phone, not a hub. We always said the main interface was still the light switch, and honestly, we meant it.

When Apps Felt Alive

The Misfit Home companion app had what might still be the most beautiful gradient ever made for color selection – a sweep of light that made you want to touch it just to see what it would do. This was peak golden-era app design – tactile, optimistic, active. Our lighting scenes paired evocative photography with subtle animations that felt like the places they represented – sunrise in Santorini, a movie night in LA, or a distant thunderstorm at dusk on the Great Plains. Bolt even tied into Misfit’s sleep tracking, gently waking you with light and syncing your sleep data back through the app.
